OVA’s
What does OVA means?
Before I start, Last Sunday, I went to the mall and spend sometime wondering around in all magazine stands just want to buy any anime mag or any stuff I can read and then I found this interesting anime magazine, Anime Insider. I haven’t really watch Trinity Blood, well, actually I only watch few episode of it. And in this magazine the cover page was father Abel Nigthroad and not really want to buy it. I went to some other magazine stand and then went home. But as soon as I realize I was holding Anime insider in my hand, and not just one, not two but three issues of it. I was really wondering why I bought it, in fact this issue wasn’t the latest, and actually this was a year ago. What is up to me? Really, what is up to me? I spent most of my money on this magazine.
Nevertheless, I just look for the bright side. Well actually, I never seen such fun reading and very informative magazine with totally cool graphics and lively entertainment as this one. In fact this magazine, gives me a whole new information about many other anime stuff such as OVA’s. (at least it make me less ignorant about OVAs and animes)
Now, let me share you some informations about what OVA means. OVA – means Original Video Animation, maybe most of us all know what it means, but about what is, only few knows. And honestly, I also don’t really understand what OVA means. So here it is.
OVA – refers to any anime produced specifically for release on home video without first being released in theatres or broadcast in TV. It plays an important role in the volatile history of anime as a whole.
OVA – is free of the length of content restriction placed on TV series and movies, The OVA format allowed creators a powerful freedom to experiment with new, exciting techniques and ideas.
OVA – releases nowadays have become a fairly common format for side-stories or supplemental episodes for TV series.
– Chad Clayton, anime insider, issue 41, feb 2007 (See! How old the magazine I bought were, but in fairness, the quality are the best. Thanks to you guys. Keep it up, and I guess I’ll have to buy more issue next time.)
OVA – animation is well regarded for its high production quality. OVA titles generally have a much higher budget per episode than that of a TV series; therefore the technical quality of animation is almost always superior to TV series; occasionally even equal to that of animated movies.
OVA – titles are also known for the detailed plots and character development which can result from greater creative freedom it offers to writers and directors than other formats.
I hope you enjoy some informations I shared to you. By the way here are some anime with OVAs.
